Hon. Ilyas Badanga of Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, has been elected as the new Kogi State Interim Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC.
He was reportedly elected alongside six others from different political parties during an election held in Lokoja yesterday, Our Kogi State Correspondent reports.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Badanga, promised to carry members of all political parties along towards achieving the goals of IPAC in Kogi state.
He assured that, under his leadership, IPAC would continue to engage the state government, by championing people oriented programmes.
"Local Government election is around the corner. We must join hands together to see how we are going to move Kogi State to an enviable height. We should all join hands together to eschew politics of bitterness.
"For those of you that contested with me and my other excos, we are all winners and no loser. All we should be thinking right now is to push for a better Kogi State and not our own selfish interest.
"I am using this medium to call on every individual to caution their wards as the state prepares for the forthcoming local government election. We are also charging the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, to be up and doing and avoid being used by some fraudulent individuals to manipulate the forthcoming polls.
"All we are advocating for in the state is a free, fair and credible election. We are very optimistic that they would meet up to this task ahead. On our part, we would always advice our teeming supporters, not to engage themselves in any act that could dent the peace of our dear state. ".
Members of the new executive of IPAC in the State include: Ahmadu Usman, Social Democratic Party, SDP; Secretary and Muhammed Kabir, People's Democratic Party, PDP; Treasurer.
Others are Onaji James, Action Alliance, AA; Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Usman, Labour Party, LP; Financial Secretary, Haj. Jumai Isah, National Rescue Movement, NRM; Organizing Secretary and Ojima Onaji, NNPP; Youth Policy Adviser.
