Warri South Council moves to avert reoccurrence of fire outbreaks in Igbudu Market

Authorities of Warri South Local Government Council in Delta State, have promised to put machineries in place to avert reoccurrence of fire outbreaks at Igbudu Market, Warri.

 

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, made the disclosure Monday August 17, when he led Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Mrs. Gbubemi Ikolo, Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Chief Divine Iniovosa, Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Supervisors in the Council and the Warri South Council Head of Personnel Management, Dr. Minnie Igbrude, to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the inferno that ravaged a section of Igbudu Market yesterday, Sunday August 16.    

 

Fresh Angle International can report that the Warri South Council Boss, assured that a committee will be set up immediately, to ascertain the main cause of the fire, even as he frowned at the act of some persons at the market, who attacked the vehicle of fire fighters that came to put out the inferno.

 

Dr. Tidi, charged the President of Igbudu Market Traders’ Union to fish out those responsible for attacking the fire fighters, so as to use them as scape goats.

 

The Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Mrs. Gbubemi Ikolo, said her visit to the scene of the fire outbreak at Igbudu Market, was to ascertain the damages caused by the fire and also sympathize with the victims.

While assuring the victims of the state government’s support, the Technical Education Commissioner, stressed that the cause of the fire will be investigated, to avoid reoccurrence and expressed displeasure over the idea of turning market premises into residential apartments.

 

Recall that a section of Igbudu Market was yesterday afternoon engulfed by fire, with goods worth millions of naira burnt.
