Warri: Why PDP lost Okere Ward for 12 years- Opuoru, Omimi

The lawmaker representing Warri South Constituency 2 in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru and Hon. Omimi Esquire, Political Adviser to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, say Peoples Democratic Party lost in Okere Ward, Warri South Local Government Area for the past 12 years, as a result of anti party activities of some aggrieved members, vowing that PDP will win the ward come 2023 polls.

Hon. Matthew Opuoru and Hon. Omimi, made the declaration Sunday August 30 in Warri, Delta State, during the inauguaration of Okere Ward PDP Secretariat, which according to them is first of its kind in Warri South Local Government Area as far as political parties having offices at the ward level is concerned.

While insisting that PDP would win Okere Ward come 2023 general elections, Hon. Opuoru, assured that efforts would be stepped up to stop anti party activities in the ward, in a bid to achieve sustainable unity.

Hon. Opuoru, who upgraded and furnished the Okere Ward Secretariat, promised to support party faithful in the ward with logistics in his resolve to help those that cannot help themselves.

Peoples Democratic Party Chairman for Warri South Local Government Area, Mr. Johnson Agbeyegbe, in his remarks, stated that Hon. Opuoru’s efforts at building PDP in the local government area, date back to the refurbishing of the party’s local government secretariat, apart from his other contributions toward adding value to the PDP.

Mr. Agbeyegbe, emphasized that PDP in the local government area, “is one family”, promising to work with the party leadership in Okere Ward to achieve victory in the forthcoming local government election and subsequent general polls.

One-time Chairman of Warri South Local Government and leader of Okere Ward, Chief Peter Agiri, Agbarha Warri PDP leader, Chief Isreal Abido and Okere Ward PDP Chairman, Mr. Benson Ugbeyevum, commended Hon. Opuoru, for his support towards building the party in the ward, assuring him and other PDP candidates of victory in future elections.
