Ahead of the fast-approaching Delta State Local Government polls, prominent Peoples Democratic Party Leaders in Orere Ward, under the auspices of Orere Leadership Forum, OLF, in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, have asked Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to abide by his appellation of Ekweme, meaning, ‘Talk and Do’, as it affects his promise of ensuring that the next Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, comes from Orere Ward.
Arising from an emergency meeting held today, Sunday September 13, in Warri, members of OLF, led by its Chairman, Hon. Simeon Iluwa, stated that Governor Okowa, promised them that Orere Ward would produce the next Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, prior to the election of the current local government chairman, Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo.
According to them, this was after Governor Okowa prevailed on the local government chairmanship hopefuls from the ward, to drop their ambition and back the candidacy of Hon. Taiye Tuoyo, adding that they were denied the opportunity to produce the incumbent local government chairman, because of their respect for party supremacy.
They insisted that the governor, “as a man of Integrity”, should honour the gentleman agreement and abide by his promise of Orere Ward, producing the incoming Warri South-West Local Government Chairman, for equity to prevail.
