Igbudu, Iyara to get transformers soon as Uroye labels Opuoru a ‘General’ that leads from the front

Two densely populated communities in Warri Urban; Igbudu and Iyara, are to enjoy improved electricity soon, following a promise by the member representing Warri South Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, to provide new electricity transformers to both communities.

 

Our Senior Correspondent reports that this much was disclosed Sunday September 20 by Hon. Opuoru, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Trade and Investment in the State House of Assembly, when he led several of his supporters on a thank you visit to a prominent PDP leader in Warri South Local Government Area, Chief Israel Abido, at his residence.

 

While thanking Chief Abido for contributing immensely towards his victory at the last general elections, the former DESOPADEC Commissioner, disclosed that his grassroots empowerment programme, has risen from 200 beneficiaries in six wards, with a cost implication of one million naira monthly to 400 beneficiaries, totaling about two million naira per month.

 

Hon. Opuoru, who challenged PDP faithful to ensure they win Okere Ward in the 2023 polls, mentioned construction of toilet at Olodi Primary School, distribution of 540 desks and 60 teachers’ tables/chairs to Pessu Primary School, Essi College, Ighogbadu Primary School and Ikengbuwa Primary School, in collaboration with Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, as some of his achievements so far as representative of Warri South Constituency II.  

 

The member representing Warri South Constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, Dr. Augustine Uroye, in his remarks, described Hon. Opuoru as a, “General that leads from the front”, urging people of Warri South Constituency II to always encourage him so as to enable him attract more democracy dividends to the constituency.

 

Chief Ebenezer Okorodudu, who is the Chief of Staff to Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, described Hon. Opuoru as a great man, saying Warri South Constituency II is lucky to have him as their representative.

 

Chief Okorodudu commended Hon. Opuoru for his quality representation in the State House of Assembly and described Chief Abido as a great leader.

Chief Israel Abido, who commended Hon. Opuoru for honouring him, said the first term lawmaker was doing very well in the State House of Assembly and advised politicians to respect those that helped them in their ascension to political offices, because: “The office they occupy is through public trust”.
