KONGONET distances self from planned #EndSARS# protest in Kogi

A Coalition under the aegis of Kogi Non - Governmental Organizations Network, KONGONET, has distanced itself from any planned #EndSARS# protest in Kogi State.

A statement signed by the Coalition’s chairman, Idris Ozovehe Muraina, earlier today, Tuesday October 20, explained that KONGONET had no discussion or plan regarding participation in #EndSARS# protest of any kind in the State.

Muraina noted that the ongoing #EndSARS# protests Nationwide, “is a faceless one, which had repeatedly proved that the protests has no leadership”.

A copy of the statement obtained by Our Kogi State Correspondent, emphasized: "KONGONET is NOT a faceless coalition, Its membership are drawn from reputable organizations, spread across the length and breadth of Kogi State, we therefore wonder why anybody will misconstrue or liken the protesters to a coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Kogi State.

"In light of the foregoing, we wish to emphatically state here, that the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Kogi State, has no intention of participating in #EndSARS# protest in Kogi State”.

Recall that Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, described the #EndSARS protests embarked upon by Nigerian youths across the country as more of politics than reality, designed to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari by some selfish politicians.

The Governor at a press conference yesterday, advised those eying President Muhammadu Buhari’s seat to wait till 2023, “rather than applying selfish tactics through the ongoing protests to oust the President”.
