Drama as angry commercial tricycle rider almost hit VIOs in Warri
The three VIOs on stop and search at Esisi Road, Warri

There was mild drama at about 10:40am, today, Monday November 9, when an angry commercial tricycle rider, almost hit three Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs of the Delta State Ministry of Transport, along Esisi Road by NYSC Zonal Secretariat, in Warri.

Fresh Angle International understands that the unidentified tricycle rider was miffed when the VIOs on duty asked him to stop for supposed routine check, he refused and the three Vehicle Inspection Officers reportedly jumped to the front of his moving tricycle. The commercial transport operator immediately drove directly towards the VIOs, on sensing danger, the officers escaped being hit.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that the officers who were apparently angry with the attitude of the tricycle rider, entered their own tricycle which was parked by the road side and chased the commercial keke operator. It was unknown as at the time of this report if the vehicle inspection officers were able to track the fleeing commercial tricycle rider.

Areas in Warri where the VIOs station daily for their stop and search operation, which often irritates the commercial tricycle operators, include NPA By-Pass by Old Port, Warri Sapele Road by Ministry of Transport Annex, near Warri Boat Yard, Esisi Road,  Airport Road and Okumagba Estate.

Some keke riders who spoke off camera with This Newspaper, urged the State Ministry of Transport to ensure that the VIOs stop the perceived harassment and extortion of motorists in Warri.
