Rotary Clubs in Lokoja to conduct free medical outreach for residents

Rotary Clubs in Lokoja, under District 9125, will commence a three-day medical outreach programme for the residents of the area from 19th to 21st November.

The medical mission, tagged, ‘Rotary Family Health Days, RFHD,’ will be organised in collaboration with Rotary Action Group for Family Health and AIDS Prevention.

The State Coordinator, RFHD, Rotarian Grace Ben Kato, said that the programme was aimed at providing basic and preventive healthcare services, drugs and test for members of the public.

Rotarian Grace said that apart from referrals to experts, the outreach would create awareness for people to know signs to look out for, in order to prevent certain diseases and carry out malaria and Hypertension screening.

“Many people don’t know their health status and it is very important they do; we have booths where tests would be carried out for different diseases like malaria, blood sugar, high blood pressure and HIV,” she said.

According to her, the annual health services, which will be carried out by Rotary Club of Lokoja and Rotary Club of Lokoja Metro, will be held at the Primary Health Care Centre Lokongoma and Central Mosque Ganaja village Lokoja respectively, from 8am daily.

"On those three days, Rotary Clubs in Lokoja will set up locations to test, screen and examine members of the public. They will also address issues like Diabetes and Glucose level screening, De- worming for children, family counselling and distribution of Insecticide Treated Nets amongst others.
