A former Special Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Community Newspapers, Olorogun David Omoru, has charged those attacking him for supporting Senator Ifeanyi Okowa's governorship aspiration to provide a superior aspirant for the 2015 election for the people of Delta State, before he and his followers would make a u-turn.
Olorogun Omoru gave the charge when he received in audience a group canvassing for another governorship aspirant, in his office along Anwai Road, Asaba, recently.
He stated that the people of Delta State were looking unto God for a leadership that that will continue to transform the state in 2015, stressing that, "Only a humble, credible, accessible and experienced politician could provide good governance and the right platform for sustainable development for the people."
He observed that all the governorship aspirants who are parading themselves including Hon. Victor Ochei, Elder Godsdsy Orubebe, Prof. Sylvester Monye, Mrs. Ngozi Olejeme, Dr. Festus Okubor, all have lower political and leadership pedigree in grassroots politics and public administration, and therefore, cannot reasonably provide the right leadership for Deltans.
Olorogun Omoru, who is the publisher of Synergy newspaper, said it would be wrong for Deltans to allow sentiment to becloud their mindsets and desire to have a governor who will be acceptable to majority of Deltans.
He added that, "from all indications, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is the only governorship aspirant that has all it takes to run a successful government for the interest of the people of Delta State," adding that, "Senator Okowa, apart from being a core party loyalist, has been in the forefront of ensuring stability and development in our dear state."
While lauding the good working relationship between the senator and the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Olorogun Omoru noted that Senator Okowa's championing of President Goodluck Jonathan's Transformation Agenda was an indication of his implicit confidence in Dr. Jonathan's administration and transformation effort, adding that, " Okowa has a robust working relationship with the Presidency and the leadership of the National Assembly."
He expressed happiness that Senator Okowa has been able to make his mark in less than three years in the Senate, having sponsored 12 bills, including the very important National Health Bill, which is currently awaiting President Goodluck Jonathan's accent.
He said he was yet to see any governorship aspirant in the state who commands the respect, followership, acceptability and pedigree of Senator Okowa, and stated that if anyone better than him (Okowa) emerges he will join their team in enthroning a government that will consolidate on the achievements of the current administration in the state, adding that, "until that happens, I remain committed to Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and his governorship aspiration,"
He used the opportunity to call on all Deltans to join in the campaign by Delta Political Vanguard and Delta People for Equity and Credible Election (D-PEACE) for the emergence of Okowa as governor of Delta State in 2015.
