The founder of Bemy's Care Foundation and a former Delta State House of Assembly, DTHA, aspirant in 2019 general poll, Chief Mrs. Mercy Eguriase Sule, has disclosed that the organisation focus is to provide access to healthcare, education and economic empowerment through business training, micro-financing projects, mainstream child rights and gender equality.
Eguriase in an online statement made available to The Urhobo Voice noted that the foundation operates as an established volunteer programme for students and professionals which includes structured short term placement in Nigeria and Ireland adding that it enables participants to support its work, learn about the success and challenges of international development and working hand in hand with its Nigerian staff to serve the communities.
According to her: "Bemy's Care Foundations exists to serve through hospitality, helping hand work and establish food bank to feed 1000 families in Delta State. The foundation recently set up a food bank in Ovu and also distributed palliatives to some communities in Ethiope East Local Government Area (LGA) as part of my efforts to cushion the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic".
"The achievements of my foundation are very numerous to mention. I have supported and will continue to support the vulnerable and the sick persons who are Deltans, Nigerians and the people globally. I will also continue to support the sickle cell victims, the less privileged in the society towards the fulfillment of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's)''.
She added: "Sickle cell is my passion. Now that I am still breathing, it is the passion of my foundation to distribute drugs, antibiotics to support the Delta State health care development efforts. The antibiotics will help sickle cell children. It will prevent crisis in them and help to build their immune system".
The Bemy's Care Foundation boss hinted that the foundation is sustaining the employment of 15 staff members across all the departments and two part time staff in its Irish office adding that: '' The foundation is positively affecting the lives of thousands of people in Nigeria".
Based on her immeasurable contributions to humanity, Eguriase has been penciled down for a merit award as the "Urhobo Woman of the Year" in Republic of Ireland by Urhobo Arts and Cultural Advancement Award (UACAA) 2020.
Commenting on the award which will be presented to her in December 2020, an elated Eguriase said she is deeply pleased and honoured to receive the award from her good Urhobo adding that: '' I sincerely thank the organisers of the award.”
