Lawmaker disburses N800,000 scholarship to 16 students

The member representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency at the National Assembly and founder of Nicholas Mutu Scholarship Foundation, Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu has disbursed scholarship worth eight hundred thousand naira (N.8million) through his foundation to 16 science students from public schools across the constituency.

Our Bomadi Correspondent  reports that the 16 beneficiaries, both male and female students who emerged winners were selected through a competitive examination organized by the Delta State Ministry of Education and were presented with a certificate and fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) each.

While presenting the awards, the Federal Lawmaker told members of his constituency that the event which marks the 6^th Edition of the annual scholarship award programme is part of his policy to build viable standard of education in the constituency in particular and the Niger Delta in general, adding that “the sure way to protecting the future is through sound education. In fact, it is the most critical pact I have with the people I am representing”.

Mutu who was represented by the chairman of People's Democratic Party, PDP, Bomadi Local Government chapter, Hon. Pius Labs, stated that he was motivated by a desire to entrench a lasting legacy of intellectual tradition amongst the younger generation.  “My social contract with the electorate has remain my agenda", the lawmaker stated.

He maintained that the beneficiaries should see the award as an inspiration to excel in their future academic endeavours and advised them to use the money wisely for the purpose of their education.

Chairman of the award ceremony, Deacon Godwin Maze while speaking lauded the Nicholas Mutu scholarship foundation for promoting education in Bomadi/Patani federal constituency, just as he called on other political office holders in the area to take a cue from Mutu's gesture.

In the same vein, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Bomadi Local Government Chapter, Comrade Keneke Godbless and Coordinator of the Mutu Foundation commended the lawmaker for promoting educational development at the grassroots and called on youths of the area to support Hon. Nicholas Mutu in order to attract more dividends of democracy.
