BEDC tells court to stop NERC from granting IEDN license to Asaba Distribution Limited

Under - performing DISCO, Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, has filed a suit at the Federal High Court (Suit No: FHC/ ABJ/ CS/ 36/ 2021) praying the court to grant an order of perpetual injunction, restraining the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC from granting Independent Electricity Distribution Network, IEDN, license to Asaba Distribution Limited, ADL.

The NERC in a statement, disclosed that the court processes were served on it today, Monday January 18.

While assuring that arrangements have been made for the defence of the suit, the Commission described the suit by BEDC as premature and instituted in bad faith, " against the overall public interest as all administrative remedies available to the parties, have not been exhausted".

The statement obtained by Fresh Angle International, from the twitter handle of NERC, explained that the court processes, forced the Commission to postpone tomorrow's hearing of a petition filed by BEDC against the issuance of IEDN license to Asaba Distribution Limited.
