There is palpable tension in Government Modern Secondary School, Asaba, following report of alleged COVID-19 positive cases among large number of students in JSS1, JSS3 and SS1 in the school.
A News Hunter at Asaba, reports that the virus is increasing on daily basis, hence causing tension among teachers and parents.
Fresh Angle International understands that despite claim by the school authority, through the Vice Principal, that only five students have so far contracted the virus, many parents have allegedly begun the process of withdrawing their children/wards from the school.
Speculations are rife that some persons who are aware of the purported COVID-19 spike in the school, were already calling on the state government to order immediate closure of the school as at the time of this report.
Tongues are wagging that the Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Tim Owhefere and Pa. Arthur Okowa, father of Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, allegedly died of COVID-19 two days ago, with speculations rising that some medics at the Federal Medical Center, FMC, Asaba, may have contracted the virus.
Recall that Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, reportedly recovered from the Coronavirus pandemic recently and figure released by NCDC, showed that Delta State recorded 51 COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours.
