Kogi Women Commissioner drums support for APC, revalidates party membership

The Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Hajiya (Mrs.) Fatima Kabir Buba, has called on Women in the State to join the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, to enjoin more dividend of democracy in Nigeria.

Hajiya Buba made the call on Saturday, shortly after revalidating her membership of APC at her Unit, 004, Eggan Ward, in Lokoja Local Government of Area of the State.

She noted that the ruling APC has brought government down to the grassroot, stressing that, women has enjoined more participatory democracy compared to what was obtainable before now.

Hajia Buba, stressed further that, APC is a gender sensitive party and are ready to accommodate more women to occupy juicy positions in the country.

According to the Kogi Women Commissioner, "Women in Nigeria, including Kogi State,  have continued to feel the dividend of democracy under the ruling APC. Are we talking about the empowerment programme from both the Federal and State level.

"Let us look at the statistic of Women in governance in Nigeria and outside the country. You will agree with me that women have been recognized more in this government compared to what was obtainable in the past.

The recent laudable achievement of the APC government under President Muhammadu Buhari and our amiable Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, is the endorsement of our own Mrs. Okonja Iweala by the United State of America to lead the WTO. This was made visible because the APC has set a template to the outside world that women in Nigeria, if given opportunities will explore and contribute meaningfully to the development of any establishment.

"Here in Kogi, we set record that has not been broken by any state across the federation including the federal capital territory. The 21 local Government vice Chairmen are women. The Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Service is a woman. Many women are occupying juicy positions which further confirms my earlier position that APC remains a party women in Kogi State and Nigeria in general can find solace in.

"APC is determined to liberate Nigeria from all the wrongs of the past. This is why am enjoying Nigerians and women in particular to join the winning party as another general election is drawing closer to determine the fate of our great country Nigeria".

The Commissioner also maintained that women in Kogi State are solidly behind the Presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello who she emphasized has touched the lives of Kogites in terms of infrastructural, capital and human development.

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that she however called on those who are yet to join the party to use the period of the registration to become members of APC adding that the ongoing revalidation and membership registration as a worthy exercise ,which will also show the numerical strength of ruling ahead of the forthcoming general election in 2023.
