Exactly one week to the March 6, Delta State Local Government election, political activities and campaigns have slowed down across the 25 local government councils in the state, Fresh Angle International checks have revealed.
After inauguration of local government and ward campaign committees by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, not much have been done in terms of aggressive campaigns across the state, except for erection of campaign billboards and posters at designated locations by chairmanship candidates, with many of the councillorship candidates doing very little to show their presence in their wards.
Many candidates of the main opposition All Progressives Congress and the ruling PDP, are not campaigning as a result of scarcity of funds and the impression that the election is already won and lost.
Reasonable number of Deltans, outside Asaba where the State Independent Electoral Commission, has its headquarters are unaware of the poll fixed for next Saturday, due to low voter - enlightenment and near zero campaign activities.
