FIFA: Why Amaju Pinnick emerged victorious - INYC

Apex Itsekiri youth body worldwide, Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC, says Warri - born NFF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, won the FIFA Executive Council Seat by a landslide as a result of his enviable antecedents in football administration, from the grassroots to the global arena.

Recall that Pinnick defeated Malawian FA President, Walter Nyamilandu by 43 votes to eight, during the CAF General Assembly held , Friday March 12 at Rabat, Morocco.

President of INYC, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, in a statement released weekend, to congratulate Mr. Pinnick, chronicled the achievements of the NFF Boss, saying " CAF and FIFA had no other option than to stick with the principle of excellence, which our brother, Amaju Pinnick, represents".

According to Agbateyiniro, as Chairman of Delta State Football Association, Mr. Pinnick ensured that the Delta State owned Warri Wolves did not only qualify for CAF Confederation Cup for more than one occasions, but recorded credible representation, which saw the Warri based team producing players for the National teams.

While noting that the leadership of Pinnick as DFA Boss, promoted grassroots football development across Delta State and resulted in competitive domestic league within the state, the Itsekiri Youth President, opined that the discovery of several Nigerian soccer talents around the world, who now play for the Super Eagles and subsequently excelling in different clubs in Europe, was another reason the Pinnick brand has been globally acknowledged through his victory.

Agbateyiniro, mentioned the resurgence of Nigerian Football Premier League, which is now live on TV with strong commercial potential and prospect of exposing local football talents to the world as another plus to the administrative dexterity of Mr. Pinnick.

He thanked the former CAF Vice President and new FIFA Executive Council Member for bringing FIFA Goal Project to Ugborodo in Warri South - West Local Government Area of Delta State, adding that Itsekiri youths are not just proud of Amaju Pinnick, but optimistic that his elevation would fast - track the execution and completion of the FIFA Goal Project in Itsekiri land.
