Authorities of Warri South Local Government Council in Delta State, have issued a reminder abatement notice to persons occupying beneath the Flyover connecting Ugbuwangue and Ogunu Communities in Warri.

A copy of the “reminder notice’ made available to Fresh Angle International this afternoon, Tuesday March 16, was directed to “Pleasure Emiko, Inusa and others under Ugbuwangue Bridge Warri”.

The notice stated in part: “It has come to the notice of this office (the Environment Department of the Council) that you failed to comply with the terms of abatement notice No: 00711 served to you on the 24th day of February 2020”, asking those concerned, “to show cause why you (they) should not be prosecuted in court”.

The fresh notice was fallout of a security meeting Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, had with some leaders of Ugbuwangue and Ogunu Communities at the Conference Hall of Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri today, Tuesday March 16.

At the meeting, Dr. Tidi emphasized that the anti ‘deve’ law signed by the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was still in force, warning everyone to steer clear of the affected area and other parts of Warri, as far as collection of development levy is concerned.

The Flyover axis have been subject of controversy between Ugbuwangue and Ogunu youths in recent times, over collection of the outlawed development levy. Confrontation recently ensued between some youths of both communities over perceived right to collect levies unapproved by authorities of Warri South Local Government Council.
