Participants recount experience as training on Dispute Management ends in Delta
A Cross Section of Facilitators and Participants, after the training/workshop


Some participants at the just concluded Capacity Building Training and Workshop on Dispute Management, Mitigation and Resolution for Trade Union Association Leaders, organized by the Search for Common Ground at Asaba, Delta State, have shared their experience with Your Soaring International Tabloid, saying their skills to mediate in conflict mitigation have been enhanced.

Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE in Ndokwa-West Local Government Council, Comr. Ikechukwu Opone, who was among the participants, told Christabel Imasuen, Our Kwale Correspondent and fellow trainee: “I can boldly say that I have a mediation skill now and can be a better mediator".

While Patience Abelle shared her experience thus: “I know better now that peace is an essential commodity", Patricia Omoyibo, said: "I now know a better way to prevent and manage conflict".

 

Another participant, Grace Ogwu, stated: "I didn't know that there is a difference between Sex and Gender, but now I know, thanks to Search for Common Ground".

 

During the training, Resource Persons were able to deal extensively on enhancing the capacity of the participants on the knowledge of good leadership skills, as peacebuilding mechanism. 

 

Knowledge of participants were also deepened on the meaning of gender, gender based violence, type of gender based violence and prevention of gender based violence, just as their skills were also sharpened on how to negotiate, mediate and dialogue in order to be able to resolve and transform conflict.

Fresh Angle International can report that the two-day workshop which ended yesterday, Tuesday March 16, featured participants from Ndokwa West, Isoko North, Ethiope East and Ughelli North Local Government Areas of Delta State.
