Abandoned vehicles, illegal structures to be cleared as Tidi inaugurates Warri South Taskforce on beautification

All illegal structures are to be cleared, illegal billboards and banners to go down and abandoned vehicles on the roads, will be towed off to designated location, in a fresh resolve to restore the aesthetic beauty of Warri.

 

This much was disclosed Monday March 22 by the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area in Delta State, Dr. Michael Tidi, while inaugurating the Warri South Local Government Area Special Taskforce on Beautification at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat, Warri.

 

The Taskforce, which has a former Supervisor for Environment in Warri South, Mr. Kenneth George as Chairman, is also saddled with the following responsibilities, to: “Evacuate all illegal dump sites in Warri South Local Government Area and stop further dumping of refuse on such spots, enforce no indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the streets of Warri Metropolis and Environs, ensure free flow of traffic on the roads in Warri South, clear all blocked drains in and around Warri metropolis, close down illegal motor parks, relocate traders on the streets, medians or any unauthorized place to any of the markets in the Local Government Area and prevent unapproved road closure for events’ purposes”.

Fresh Angle International can report that a mobile court to try offenders, will be set up to enable the Taskforce successfully achieve its 3-month mandate.

 

Dr. Tidi, who addressed members of the Taskforce before the inauguration, warned that his administration will not tolerate molestation and extortion of innocent citizens.

 

While pleading with Security Chiefs to give members of the Taskforce the needed support, the Warri South Local Government Chief Security Officer, tasked the Taskforce to work in synergy with Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

 

The Taskforce Chairman, Mr. Kenneth George, while responding on behalf of the members, thanked the Dr. Tidi administration for finding them worthy to serve and assured that members of the Taskforce will do their best to accomplish the terms of reference within the time frame given them.

 

This Newspaper can report that other members of the Taskforce are: Mr. Mavis Onojeghwho, Mrs. Ndiana Oweimieotu, Mr. Brume Eyekpimi, Mr. Christopher Agbajor, Mr. Amaju Egbe, Mr. Onorway Joseph, Mr. Tuoyo Urunden, Comr. Efetobor Edafe Henry, Mr. William Omonukarin and Mr. Ojighoro Jolomi.
