Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area in Delta State, Dr. Michael Tidi, has warned that members of Warri South Council Taskforce on Beautification will be backed by security agencies when they commence demolition of illegal structures and other shanties along major roads and streets in the Oil City of Warri.
Dr. Tidi, who handed down the warning while monitoring the activities of the taskforce and the state environmental sanitation exercise that held today, Saturday March 27, ordered persons occupying under the flyover connecting Ugbuwangue and Ogunu as well those trading by the roundabout close to Energy Link Road, Ugbuwangue in Warri, to vacate within seven days or face massive demolition of their structures.
He advised the illegal occupants not to fall for the assurances of any community leader, saying his administration is more determined to rid Warri of illegal structures and beautify the city, so as to make it more investor - friendly, open job opportunities and make it habitable for living.

While commending furniture makers opposite Federal Government College, Warri for shifting their structures by themselves 9 meters away from the drainage in line with the directive of the Warri South Council Taskforce on Beautification, the second - term Warri South Chairman, ordered traders by the side of Ugbuwangue Market Close to the road, to relocate immediately, saying his administration intends to use the space as car park, to enhance free flow of traffic at the Ugbuwangue axis of NPA Expressway.

The Warri South Local Government Chief Security Officer, who also directed traders at Igbudu Market and other areas in Warri to comply with the mandate of the council's taskforce on beautification, assured that his administration will collaborate with the relevant state government agencies and community leaders, to ensure that the reinvigorated urban renewal/ beautician drive is attained and sustained.
Chairman of the Warri South Council Taskforce on Beautification, Mr. Kenneth George, who is coordinating the clearing of overgrown weeds and blocked drainages along Ogunu Road and other parts of Warri, disclosed that demolition of illegal structures in Warri, will commence Tuesday April 6.

Vice Chairman of the taskforce, Hon. Mavis Onojeghwho, while speaking to the press, noted that one of the ways through which government can ensure safety of the citizens, is by cleaning and beautifying the environment.
