A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Warri North Local Government Area, Prince David Odeli, has described the dissolution of Delta State Executive Council and sack of Special Advisers, Tuesday May 18 by Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, as politically strategic and necessary for accelerated governance ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Prince Odeli, who made the declaration in a press statement released in Warri, Wednesday May 19, opined that as an experienced politician and seasoned administrator, Governor Okowa acted in good fate and timely manner, " to reposition governance structure in the state, with a view to excuse political appointees whose 2023 political ambitions and alignments have the tendency of slowing down deliverable and visible democratic dividends".
He urged the former cabinet members and Special Advisers to remain committed to the ideals of the PDP and support the Dr. Okowa administration in the resolve to build a stronger Delta State and set the tone for smooth transition of power, " that would consolidate PDP's hold in the state and avoid actions capable of causing division within the party".
Odeli, a development advocate, advised Governor Okowa, to deploy his wealth of political and administrative experience in selecting credible Deltans who are goal - oriented in his new cabinet, so as to scale up infrastructural development across the state and fast - track the process of resetting the economy for accelerated growth, " after the damage caused by the COVID - 19 Pandemic".
