NDDC: We are resorting to violence, since that's the language you understand - HOSTCOM Itsekiri Chapter notifies Akpabio, FG

The Youth Wing of Host Communities of Nigeria (Producing Oil and Gas) Itsekiri Chapter, says it has resolved to commence the disruption of crude oil and gas production in Itsekiri lands across Delta and Edo States from Friday June 11, warning that nothing would stop their action until the Federal Government constitutes a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC with an Itsekiri indigene appointed Chairman or MD of the Board.

Youth Leader of HOSTCOM Itsekiri Chapter, Mene - Ejegi Gabriel Ajemijeroma, who spoke angrily in an exclusive telephone interview with Fresh Angle International this morning, Friday June 4, stated that the visit of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Obot Akpabio to Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo at Gbaramatu in Warri South - West Local Government Area of Delta State, yesterday, ," attests to the fact that the only language the Federal Government understands is violence!"

Ejegi, who was particularly miffed that the Minister didn't make any effort to visit the Itsekiri traditional institution despite ultimatum handed down to the Federal Government on the constitution of substantive board for the NDDC by some Itsekiri groups, stated that the time to change the narrative from peaceful disposition to violent agitation was now.

He declared: "It will be foolhardy for the Federal Government and the Oil and Gas Majors, to be ignoring ultimatum by Itsekiri groups to ground oil and gas production in Delta and Edo States, when most operational facilities of the multinational oil and gas companies, are in our land." 

The Itsekiri youth leader added: "We are ready to prove our doubters wrong in the next seven days, if Akpabio fails to accord Itsekiri Nation our due respect and right as well as ensure a substantive board is constituted for the NDDC with an Itsekiri indigene as Chairman or MD, since we are the largest producer of crude oil in Delta State".
