The Niger Delta Nonviolence Agitators’ Forum, NDNAF on Saturday June 26, embarked on a high- powered advocacy and consultative visit to the Chairman, South-South Traditional Rulers' Council of Chiefs, Abuja Chapter.

The delegation was led by HRH King Itoro Monday, Obong Emem I of FCT and Chairman, Akwa-Ibom State Council of Chiefs, Abuja.

Our Abuja Correspondent reports that the visit was part of the Forum's activities to mobilize the people from the region and deepen its reach, in order to establish mutually beneficial relationship with all relevant stakeholders from the Niger Delta region.

The collaboration was also intended to strengthen the voice of NDNAF and make their position known on issues of deprivation, underdevelopment, expropriation and marginalization of Niger Deltans.

Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the Abuja Chapter, NDNAF, Comrade Embale Jonathan, thanked the Traditional Ruler for opening up his doors for collaboration with the Forum, explaining that they were at the Palace for Royal blessings as well as the need to urge people of Niger Delta to unite and speak in one voice, while engaging the Federal Government on critical National issues.

Comrade Embale, explained that the vision of NDNAF is to have a peaceful Niger Delta without violent agitation, just as he noted that the Forum deploys the instrumentalities of dialogue, mediation, negotiation, sensitization and intellectualism, to fight the course of the region.

In his response, the Chairman, South-South Traditional Rulers' Council, FCT,  HRH King Lucky Omafuakpo (JP) applauded the initiative of the Forum and noted that the people of the region have long been marginalized, oppressed and divided, adding that it was time for the people to come together in solidarity and speak against injustice.

King Omafuakpo, assured the Forum of the unalloyed support of the Traditional Rulers' Council of Chiefs, saying they will give the Forum the necessary backing in all its activities in the FCT.

He advised the Forum to also reach out to all the Royal Fathers in the Niger Delta region, so as to carry all stakeholders along and deepen their reach.
