The Awani Edo Family of Warri, has distanced themselves from the publication authored by Mr. Omagbemi Philip Awani, wherein he called on the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami, to seek redress in court to prove that the reported disqualification of Prince Tsola Emiko as OMOBA (Olu of Warri - Designate) by the Ojoye - Isan (The Olu Advisory Council) led by Ologbotsere Ayirimi Emami, was in line with the law and custom of Itsekiri Nation, as stipulated in the 1979 Edict.
The family in a press statement made available to newsmen Saturday July 3, averred that only the Olori - Ebi (eldest man) or his representative, who is the Chairman of the family Advisory Council, can speak for them.
The statement, which has the imprimatur of the Olori - Ebi of Awani Edo Family, Charles O. Awani, noted that Mr. Omagbemi Awani: "Does not have the Family's authority to speak on its behalf at the Otiri, Abotor and Awani Families' Forum", adding that they would make such," pronouncements ONLY after the matter has been thoroughly examined and deliberated upon".
While stating that Mr. Omagbemi Awani's statement expressed his thoughts only, the Awani Edo Family, recalled: " He was the Youth Leader at one time and became advisor after relinquishing the position ".
