Ohanaeze alleges plot by Presidency, Igbo elders to ensure unfair trial for Nnamdi Kanu

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has alleged plot by the Presidency and some Igbo elders to ensure that Nnamdi Kanu gets unfair trial and penalty, hinging its allegation on the recent positive response of the Attorney General of Federation and Minister for Justice, Mr. Abubarkar Malami, to the “illegal set-up” of the Igbo Elders’ legal team for Nnamdi Kanu, “after the secret meeting between the representatives of Igbo Elders and Presidency yesterday”.

The pan-Igbo apex group in an E-statement sent to Fresh Angle International this morning, Tuesday July 13, claimed that “the secret meeting”, was, “the affirmative evidence to our earlier warnings about the hastily, but crafty package of moles to infiltrate the legal team of Nnamdi Kanu for sinister motives”.

The statement credited to the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, noted: “Ohanaeze Constitution does not permit anyone to set up any legal team without the authorization of Imeobi members and the approval of the General Assembly as stipulated in articles 20 and 21.

“As the highest decision making organs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the last meeting of the Imeobi was on 31st December 2020, as General Assembly meetings had never met since 4 years ago, Igbos are amazed at how some desperate and shameless Igbo Elders, could descend so low that they are being used as political jobbers and shenanigans against Nnamdi Kanu, without constitutional approval of Imeobi and General Assembly of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“We are pressurized by Imeobi members to disassociate Ohanaeze Ndigbo from any legal team, as it is illegal, unconstitutional, null and void.  The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, should know that based on the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Constitution, it's the fundamental liberty of Nnamdi Kanu to choose his legal team, as any attempt to drag Igbo leadership to give ethnic back up to justify the premeditated penalty for Nnamdi Kanu is dead on arrival”.
