A Bill for an Act to Establish the Federal Institute of Fisheries Research, Ogidigben in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, Fresh Angle International has gathered.
The Bill sponsored by the Member Representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, is intended to make Comprehensive Provisions for due Management and Administration of Fishery Research, Education, Cooperative Training and Related Matters in Nigeria.
Chief Ereyitomi, while presenting the Bill, explained that Ogidigben is a coastal community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, adding that when established, the Fisheries Institute will be accessible to the people of Warri Federal Constituency and other Nigerians.
The lawmaker, stressed that the coastal communities within the Warri Federal Constituency produce over 30 percent of Nigeria’s economic mainstay, but have little or nothing to show for it in the area of education, social amenities, development or even federal presence.
