Police nab gun runner along Idah-Anyigba Road, recovers Two AK-47 rifles


A suspected kidnapper, armed robber and gun runner in Kogi State, identified as Mohammed Bako, has been arrested by the Police.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that Bako, was arrest by the Men of the Kogi State Police Command in a stop-and-search operation along Idah-Anyigba Road, yesterday, August 12.

 

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP William Ovye Aya, made the disclosure in a statement this morning, Friday August 13.

 

The Police Image Maker, said the suspect was arrested in a commercial vehicle with two (2) AK-47 rifles, 41 rounds of ammunition, one (1) locally made Baretta Pistol and 6.7 MM ammunition hidden in a sack.

 

According to Aya, the suspect who hails from Koton -Karfe Area of Kogi State, had allegedly confessed ownership of the arms and ammunition.

 

"Investigation is being intensified. The suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.

 

"Members of the public are assured that the Command is determined to work in synergy with other security agencies in the State, to ensure adequate security of life and property", he added.
