Women will make you proud, Tenumah assures new Olu of Warri
The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III

A former President of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG and ebullient voice of young Itsekiri Women, Alero Naomi Tenumah, has assured the newly crowned Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, that Women of Iwere Nation, will make him proud, if he properly carries them along.

The new Warri Monarch, had on Saturday August 21, during his maiden post coronation remarks, promised: “We will look to honour our women. We will encourage them, build them up and support them in realising their inestimable potentials. And as we do this, we will also see the multiplier effect in the collective development of our people. We will ensure that our women, both old and young, are honoured and respected, not only by word, but in actual cultural practice. We will look to actively seek the opinion and counsel of our women and opportunities that avail themselves to the Itsekiri Nation will be used to empower our women to enable them to contribute their substance to the growth and development of the Itsekiri Nation”.

While reacting to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwste III’s remarks as it affects Itsekiri women, Tenumah, thanked the Revered Monarch, “for diming it fit to carry women along”.

She said: “In the past, women were properly carried along. If you check history very well and look at most of the property in Ajamimogha, they are owned by women. Women were rich, enterprising, hard-working and were the beauty of men in time past. But recently, they were no longer perceived as important as they ought to be. This is why, I am particularly delighted that Ogiame Atuwatse III, has promised to change the narrative towards a positive trajectory, in terms of empowerment of our women. We will make him proud, both economically, physically and otherwise”.
