Matrix Energy Group trains over 500 of its truck drivers

A leading indigenous oil and gas company in Nigeria, Matrix Energy Group, has trained over 500 of its truck drivers across the country, in order to enhance efficient, professional and accident free services to its customers.

Our Senior Correspondent, reports that the training held Saturday August 28 at the company's operational base in Ifiekporo, Warri, Delta State.

 
The training was themed: "Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow."
 
A Special Marshal and Engr. in Safety, Felix Nakpodia, in his lecture, said driving is a lucrative job, hence people engaged in it, should see it as a profession and put in their best with all sense of dignity.

He commended the management of Matrix Energy for kit - up and other logistics given to their truck drivers, saying it makes them distinguished.
 
Engr. Nakpodia, explained that building safety culture," is to establish, develop, make and accumulate", while safety means to be free from any potential danger or harm.
 
He stressed that drivers have lots of jobs and importance, advising them to pray against accident and be extremely careful to avoid it.
 
According to him, non of Matrix Energy truck has been involved in auto crashes, urging them to "sustain the clean sheet."

The safety expert charged the company's truck drivers to be mentally, physically , emotionally and psychologically fit, before driving any vehicle. 
 
Nakpodia, admonished the truck drivers to always apply defensive driving skill, which according to him, is," driving to prevent accident/collision in spite of the incorrect actions of others and adverse conditions around you, the driver and thus save lives, time, money and prosperity'. 
 
Chief Operating Officer, C.O.O, Matrix Energy Group, Lukeman Alada, represented by the Group Head Haulage, Matrix Energy Limited, Engr. Raphael Biu, disclosed that the company resolved to always organise trainings for their drivers and equip them with modern techniques in driving, so as to sustain their professionalism.
 
Engr. Biu, assured that Matrix Energy will sustain the training, which is quarterly.

He noted that Matrix Energy has over 60 stations , adding that the company is projecting over 100 stations across the country before the end of 2021.
 
The Matron, Matrix Depot Clinic, Ifiekporo, Warri, Esoko Omawumi, counseled drivers about fatigue and how to avoid it, in order to have safer journeys.
 
Official of the Federal Road Safety Corps , FRSC, present, advised drivers to always maintain their vehicles and do thorough check before any journey, cautioning them against consuming alcoholic drinks before driving.
 
The Petroleum Tanker Drivers , PTD, Chairman, Matrix Energy Limited, Comrade Ajani Monsuru Yekini, expressed delight about the training and appealed to his colleagues to remain," good ambassadors of Matrix Energy," wherever they may be assigned to deliver products.
 
The drivers who participated, expressed happiness and appealed for more welfare packages and empowerment.
 
Merit Awards and cash were splashed to deserving drivers of the company, ranging from longest service award to special recognition awards.
 
15 drivers were honoured. They are; Adamu Muhammed- Best driver- Warri, Best driver Bitumen Warri, Bulama Aliyu, Alhaji Muntari Adamu-Best LPG driver, Best performing Lagos, Taofeek Oyebamiji, Best driver Zaria- Tunde Oyewole, cleanest driver- Ibrahim Sanni Bello, Best Maintenance Driver cultured- Alh. Nasiru Saleh, Best maintenance cultured-Alh. Yusuf Illiyasu, Best journey management compliance driver-Shamsudeen Shehu, Best PPE compliance-Umar Abubakar, Best Behaved driver- Segun Adeyanju, Salihu Aziz as well as long service award to Yisha Bashiru and Abdulrahim Muhammed, while special recognition award went to Mr. Mudashiru Taofeek, including the PTD Chairman, Matrix Energy, Comrade Yekini.
