Delta 2015: Why l am in the race- Okowa

The Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Senator ifeanyi Okowa said a reasonable level of experience and exposure are some of the key ingredients expected from anyone aspiring to succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2015.

Senator ifeanyi Okowa who disclosed this as he begins his local government tour of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariats in Delta State to meet with the party executives, said, he is immensely equipped with the requisite experience and exposure to pilot the affairs of the State.

At Anoicha North PDP Secretariat, Senator Okowa said it would be tragedy foretold if the State is handed over to someone who is ill-equipped, ill-prepared and ill-motivated to govern Delta State.

Accompanied by elders and party chieftains from the Central, South and the North region of the State, Senator ifeanyi Okowa, appealed to the PDP to observe all laid down rules as enshrined in the party constitution in the conduct of the governorship primaries.

He said his achievements as one time Local Government Secretary and Chairman, three times Commissioner, a former Secretary to State Government and now a lawmaker at the Upper Chamber of the Legislative arm, and coupled with the fact that he has remained steadfast with the PDP, put him in good stead to succeed Governor Uduaghan.

At ika Northeast, Oshimili North and South, lsoko North and South, Uvwie and Warri South Local Government Areas, Senator Okowa said the level the State has gotten in infrastructural development does notrequire someone who is coming to learn on the job to succeed the incumbent.

According to him “the time is here for us to vote for someone with a reasonable level of exposure and experience. Someone who is not coming to learn on the job, someone who is known to the people”. Renowned for his humility, candour and accessibility, he promised to continue to exhibit the same character traits, saying : ‘’ l will continue to relate with you because my governor project is a collective ambition of the people’’.

While commending the State PDP Chairman, Barrister Peter Nwaboishi, for providing what he describes as a ‘’ purposeful leadership ‘’ for the party, Senator Okowa said, as a foundation member of the party and someone who has excelled in the several offices held in the past, he is well- equipped, well-prepared and well-motivated to fly the
party’s flag in the general elections.

Senator ifeanyi Okowa flanked by notable party chieftains from the Central , South and North Senatorial districts of the State, further disclosed that his years of stewardship has exposed him to the issue of governance and working with the civil servants.
