As the build-up to the October 25, 2014 local government polls in Delta State gathers momentum, the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC has accused the ruling PDP of looting Delta State treasury and traumatizing Deltans.
The APC in a statement signed by its Delta State Publicity Secretary, Isaac Adaka Adakpo declared that “it is favoured to root out the reaction and primordial PDP and save the people from the strangulation politics of primitive accumulation practiced by the PDP”, stressing that it “is poised to bring to an end the politics of cartel, misrule, mis-governance, impunity and brigandage imposed on the people since 1999”.
The statement which is dated August 1, 2014 and issued after a meeting of key officials of the party at Asaba, the Delta State Capital also accused members of Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC of being card carrying PDP appointees.
The party vowed that it “will not accept puerile and diabolical statements such as ‘in-spite of late arrival of personnel and materials, slow take-off in some areas and a few irregularities’, bla bla bla (sic) the elections were generally free and fair and credible”, warning that the forthcoming local government polls must not be slow or late.
The All Progressives Congress equally noted that it will not accept a situation where top government functionaries will vote and monitor elections in their local government areas, declaring that the President and Vice President of the country do not monitor the general elections.
The Delta State Chapter of the APC has also decided to impress on the National Working Committee of the party to allocate two more slots to Delta State on the BOT, even as it has nominated and ratified foremost Labour Leader, Chief Ovie Frank Kokori to the APC Board of Trustees.
