Urhobo students award Fresh Angle best community News Reporter


Urhobo students in Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashiuku under the aegis of National Union of Urhobo Students, NUUS has presented an award of excellence to your soar away newspaper, Fresh Angle International “for outstanding contribution to the development of Urhobo nation/culture” as well as for “being the best community News Reporter 2014”.

The award which is coming after Fresh Angle International was nominated for the Delta Achievers Merit Award as one of the best indigenous Newspapers in Delta State in less than five years of its operation, took place at the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashiuku Sunday August 3.

In a remark during the ceremony, the traditional ruler of Urhobo Students in Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashiuku, His Royal Highness, Emuejevoke W. Ikukuapogbe Ophie 1, described Fresh Angle International as “one of the most professional, unbiased and inter tribal newspaper that has no ethnic colouration like other newspapers”.

The students’ monarch commended Fresh Angle for its hard-work as well as for promoting Urhobo culture via reportage and overall content. He gave plaudits to all those who made the ceremony a success and bemoaned the perceived neglect of NUUS, Ogwashiuku by the National Association of Delta State Students.

Also speaking, the National President of NUUS, H.R.H Augustine Omokpe admonished all Urhobo Students to always exhibit good character and do things that will continue to promote the Urhobo culture and tradition.

He accused DESOPADEC of marginalizing Urhobo students and appealed to the Delta State governor to address the alleged marginalization.

The General Manager of Rural Development Agency, Delta State, Prince Greg Ejehwoemu in a brief at the ceremony, advised students to shun cultism and be disciplined at all times.

Public Relations Officer of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashiuku, Mr. Manfred Oyibogbeye who represented the Institution’s Rector, cautioned students against vices that can impact negatively on their studies.

Our Senior Correspondent who covered the colourful ceremony reports that apart from presenting awards to Fresh Angle International, Chief Okpan Aribo, Chief Olori Magege of Delta State Waste Management Board, Rector and Deputy Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashiuku, there were also colourful display of Urhobo cultural dance as well
