A Bill for an Act to Amend the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI Act, Cap. P16, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004; and for Related Matters has passed Second Reading in the House of Representatives.

 

The bill for an Act to Amendment the the Petroleum Training Institute Act, Cap. P16, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004; and for Related Matters was sponsored by the member Representating Okpe, sapele and Uvwie federal constituency Hon. Efe Afe. 

 

Leading the debate Hon. Afe, said the move to amend the Petroleum training institute Act is necessary to conform with the Petroleum Industry Act.

 

The motion moved by Hon. Efe Afe, for the second reading of the Bill was seconded by Hon Ganiyu Johnson. 

 

Hon. Afe, stated that the aspects of the Act establishing the institute are obsolete and it is necessary to amend it. 

 

He also stated that the application of the Petroleum Industry Act just passed will benefit from the amendment. 

 

He added that they are some aspects that have eluded the institution especially the certification of professionals.

 

The Bill was voted, approved for second reading. 

 

The bill was passed for the second reading and referred to the House Committee on Petroleum Upstream.

 

Meanwhile the member Representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency Hon. Efe Afe, has restated his appeal to the federal Government to rehabilitate the Warri Sapele -Benin Road.

 

Hon. Afe, made the call in an interview with Newsmen in his office at Abuja during the week.

 

The member Representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal constituency Hon. Efe Afe thanked the speaker and members of the house of Representatives for adding Warri Sapele and Benin Road to other Roads that needed the attention of the federal Government.

 

He noted that the failed sections of the Warri-Sapele-Benin road needs to be rehabilitated to reduce the sufferings of road users on the highway.

 

The Federal lawmaker stated that he has sponsored bill on the need for the federal government to reconstruct the Warri Sapele Benin Road as it has become a night mare for motorists. 

 

While noting that the road is a Federal Road, Hon. Afe, stated that Deltans and other Nigerians depend on the road to erk a living for themselves.

 

Hon. Afe, said he was disturbed by the sufferings of the people who ply the road and decries the loss of man-hour occasioned by the failed portion of the road. 

 

He thanked Delta State Governor Dr. ifeanyi Okowa, for his intervention on the road last year, saying that it was a huge relieve for the people until it recently failed.
