Breaking: Security details resist Warri South Council's enforcement of N2m court judgement against AYM Shafa

Feelers reaching Fresh Angle International, say efforts by Revenue Enforcement Officials of Warri South Local Government Council in Delta State, to seal up AYM Shafa Depot at Ifiekporo, Warri in Delta State, this afternoon, Friday September 24, met resistance from some soldiers engaged by the company as security details.

Your Soaring International Tabloid, authoritatively gathered that Warri South Local Government Council, obtained a court judgement in the Revenue Court, Delta State of Nigeria in the Warri Revenue Court Division, to collect Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00 ) as tenement rate on the Defendant's (AYM Shafa) property for the year 2021, with N50,000.00 as cost.

The judgement, delivered Thursday September 9 (this month) by the Revenue Judge, C.O Akpiroroh (Mrs.) was instituted by the Council authority against AYM Shafa, with Mr. Kenneth Erhirhie (Revenue Enforcement Officer) representing the Plaintiff (Warri South Local Government Council).

While OA. Udoro esq. was Attorney for the Plaintiff, the Defendant (AYM Shafa) was absent and unrepresented on the day the judgement was delivered.

After hearing from the Plaintiff’s Counsel, the court ordered as follows: “The evidence before Court being unchallenged and un-contradicted judgment, is hereby entered in Plaintiff's favour against the Defendant in the sum of N2,000,000.00 only as tenement rate on the Defendant's property for the year 2021, N50,000.00 as cost”.

The Management of AYM Shafa could not be reached as at 5.40pm today when this report was published, but there were insinuations that the company was interpreting payment of ground rent to the Delta State Government as tenement rate, which Local Government Councils are constitutionally empowered to collect .
