The advice by psychology that anyone who wants to avoid near intolerable heartbreak not to fall in love and play active politics could not have come at a better time than now, as the tempo of political activities reach fever-pitch in the build-up towards the highly anticipated 2015 polls.
The media active and politically boisterous All Progressives Congress, APC at the National level will definitely be wondering about the decision of pioneer EFCC boss, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and ex- Minister Femi Fanikayode to dump their party for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
The seeming earlier political romance of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal with the All Progressives Congress over his rumoured presidential ambition that appears to have died down as a result of the air being blown in APC controlled states in the guise of orchestrated impeachments, are posers waiting for answers as 2015 inches closer.
Indeed, there is no permanent enemy, but permanent interests in politics. Little wonder therefore that political maneuvering will continue to soar at both the Federal and State levels as we race towards 2015 general polls, no thanks to the lack of principle and zero respect for gentleman agreements by our political leaders.
In Warri, Delta State for instance, political watchers and pundits are facing the biggest shocks of their life with the latest emergence of new political aspirants’ posters and the gradual disappearance of posters of those who initially enveloped Warri and other parts of Delta State with political frenzy, doing mosquito campaigns in the name of consultations.
The question that still bothers the minds of observers of the new political trend is what may be going on?
But those who understand the intriguing nature of Nigeria and indeed Delta State politics know that “it is a game of Oga at the top” or better still “directive by leaders”.
The unfolding scenario leaves much to be desired if the Nigerian voting public has any say in those who emerge as their political leaders, a situation that is further worsened by the hash economic realities.
As we glide towards the 2015 election, more shocks, particularly within the PDP in Delta State on who gets the party’s gubernatorial flag as well as State House of Assembly tickets will certainly play out, as feelers from impeccable sources in the party suggest the political gladiators will seriously have to safeguard their emotions and scarce resources so as not to suffer heart attacks, stroke or even death of their political career.
