Police arrests four persons for stealing 1, 157 voters’ cards

The Police in Delta State have arrested four persons: Bulless MriKugbe, Raymond Justus Ese, Josiah Shetode and Felix Obokan for allegedly stealing a total of one thousand, one hundred and fifty seven voters’ cards, PVCs.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, while Bulless Mrikugbe, Raymond Justus Ese and Josiah Shetode, all males are allegedly responsible for stealing 503 PVCs, Felix Obokan was arrested for stealing 654 PVCs.

The arrest which was effected on Sunday August 17 at about 1600hrs is sequel to a hint by the Electoral Officer in-charge of Ughelli South Local Government Area, one Uchechukwu Eze.

The Electoral Officer reportedly told the DPO, Otu-Jeremi Division that some faceless elements stormed Units 17 and 18 of Jeremi Ward 2 in Oginibo and snatched about 503 permanent voters’ cards, PVCs meant for distribution in the affected wards.

It was based on the report that Bulless Mrikugbe, Raymond Justus Ese and Josiah Shetode were arrested, while atabout 1740 hours same day, Felix Obokan was nabbed for allegedly stealing 654 PVCs following the intervention of the DPO, Otu-Jeremi Police Division.

Fresh Angle can report that even though all 1,157 recovered PVCs have been released to the Electoral Officer for Ughelli South Local Government, the state police command is yet to recover another set of 144 PVCs allegedly stolen by unknown persons, even as four persons have been arrested with investigations in top gear to recover the stolen 144 PVCs.

The theft of the 144 PVCs was brought to the notice of the police by a Youth Corper, one Egugwu Mulaka who was the Distribution Officer for Unit 6 Erho- Abraka.
