Gory: Fire kills five family members of CAC Pastor

Tragedy struck at the Ekurede Itsekiri Area of Warri, Delta State Wednesday September 24 when a fire outbreak allegedly caused by a sparked electric cable killed the wife of a CAC Pastor identified as Mrs. Grace Kayodai and her four children.

An eye witness, Mr. Bright December told Our Senior Correspondent that the fire which started from the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Otumara Branch spread through a plank connecting the church to the Pastor’s official apartment attached to the Church building and razed down the apartment, roasting Mrs. Grace Kayodai and her four children beyond recognition.

According to the eye witness, the late pastor’s wife and her four children, including the eldest son believed to be about 17 years old, made several attempts to exit the bullet proof door of their apartment to no avail and even went ahead to knock the apartment window severally yelling for help, but there was no rescue as the consuming smoke over-ran the entire building.

A small boy who apparently came to the rescue by pouring water into the apartment could not achieve anything and the late arrival of officials of the Delta State Fire Service who reportedly came at about 2:30 pm Thursday September 25 was not enough to save the five victims believed to be asleep when the gory incident occurred.

The bereaved pastor, John Kayodai who is in-charge of the Otumara Branch of the CAC was at Ibadan, Oyo State for his church conference when the entire members of his household as well as properties were razed by the fire.

Our Senior Correspondent who was at the scene of the incident at about 1:30 pm Thursday September 25, reports that Pastor John Kayodai who had to rush down from Ibadan on hearing the painful incident was at the CAC headquarters in Warri Garage as at the time of this report.
