Capacity Building: Itsekiri graduates seek Emami’s support


The National Association of Itsekiri graduates, NAIG under the leadership of Oritsegbegbemi Ajagbe has solicited the support of Chairman of Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC and Chieftain of the PDP, Chief Ayirimi Emami in its resolve to ensure that graduates of Itsekiri extraction are trained and retrained to meet up with present challenges in the labour market.

Briefing Chief Emami at his private residence in Warri, Delta State Wednesday October 1, the NAIG President, Comrade Oritsegbegbemi Ajagbe commended the PDP Chieftain and Itsekiri rights’ activist for providing educational support to Itsekiri students as well as pupils through the provision of ferry boats to riverine areas for free and thanked him for “always protecting Itsekiri interest in employment opportunities”.

Comrade Ajagbe who was accompanied by members of his executive stated that Chief Emami has consistently struggle to make sure that the Export Processing Zone, EPZ at Ogidigben in Warri South-West Local Government benefit not just Itsekiris but her neighbours.

He disclosed that his leadership is finalizing arrangements for the launching of a project tagged “Speak Itsekiri Language”. According to him, the project will feature the distribution of Itsekiri literatures free to pupils and students in Warri.

In his brief response, Chief Emami stated that the visit will spur him to do more for the promotion of Itsekiri interest and promised to redouble his effort in seeking more job opportunities for Itsekiri graduates.
