Umuko-Ejoh Oyemi, profile of a Social Contractor (consummate grassroots politician)

Umuko-Ejoh Oyemi can best be described as an iconic grassroots “Warri boy” whose heritage spreads through the neigbouring Okere and Uvwie communities, with parental heritage of Itsekiri and Urhobo from the respected Prince Ejoh-Ofeyekunor Royal Family of Ode-Itsekiri and Okere in Warri South Local Government Area (Warri Kingdom) and Urhobo from the Okodu family of Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area, both in Delta State.

Interestingly, Umuko-Ejoh Oyemi is also a great grandson of Akpotabo, the eldest daughter of Ighogbadu of Okere-Urhobo, Warri South Local Government.

Umuko-Ejoh Oyemi is an alumnus of Nigeria’s Premier Ivory Tower, with a B.Sc in Political Science and M.Sc in International Relations, University of Nigeria Nsukka.

As a grassroots politician whose incursion into politics many years ago was informed by a genuine desire to serve his people in elective or appointment capacity, is a member of several respected professional bodies like: Centre for American Studies, Nigerian Institute of Management, (NIM) National Association of Political Scientists and Centre for Good Governance and Sustainable Community Development.

His Political Goals Include:

1. To ensure even development based on the specific needs of each community as requested.

2. Improve on educational facilities and the provision of affordable education (short of free education) for our youths.

3. Embark on poverty eradication programmes that will put food on the people’s table.

4. Produce the necessary environment for healthy citizenry by building, equipping and staffing health facilities in his constituency.

5. Encourage sporting activities that will return the glory of Warri, especially in football and athletics and

6. To encourage political harmony amongst the diverse ethnic communities in Warri as well as work assiduously for the sustenance of the relative peace achieved in the area.
