The suzerain
of Iwere nation, His Majesty , Ogiame Atuwatse II(CON) the Olu of Warri is set
to confer chieftaincy title on some distinguished Itsekiris as part of
activities to mark his 25years on the exalted throne, Fresh Angle reliably
gathered.
Chairman of
Itsekiri Oil and Gas Producing/Impacted Communities Development Committee, Mr.
Ayirimi Emami,Chairman of Itsekiri National Heritage ,Willy Edema Ofoni,
Special Project Director of Trans Warri Ode-Itsekiri bridges and access roads,
Hon.Otimeyin Adams and factional Chairman of Ugborodo Community Trust,
Mr.Thomas Ereyitomi are among those being speculated to be conferred with
chieftaincy titles.

gathered that, Mr.Willy Edema Ofoni recent relinquishing of a traditional title
conferred on him by a kingdom in the South-West is not unconnected with the
renowned businessman’s acceptance of the Olu of Warri decision to honour him
with a traditional title.
Informed
sources say Mr.Ayirimi Emami who was initially hesitant about the proposed
chieftaincy conferment ,decided to accept the Olu’s honour after wide
consultations with prominent and learned
Itsekiris.
As at the
time of filing this report, no date has been fixed for the conferment , but the
ceremony is expected to be grandeur as always.
Prominent Shell
contractor of several decades, Chief .E.A. Temile, Chief Emmanuel Jones,
renowned Itsekiri activist, Chief Francis Omatseye and Chief Oluyemi
Oritsejafor, sibling to CAN National President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor are
among distinguished Itsekiris that the present Olu of Warri has conferred with
chieftaincy titles since his reign.
In another
development, maverick Urhobo activist and former UPU President, Chief Benjamin
Okumagba has been reported dead.
Unconfirmed
report says close family members are yet to make the alleged death public.
Unlike former speculations of Chief Benjamin Okumagba’s death , an impeccable source in Okere-Urhobo hinted Fresh Angle that the corpse
of the former Otota has been deposited in a morgue.
