The National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG under the leadership of Ajagbe Oritsegbegbemi has disassociated itself from the purported expulsion of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State by the Alero Tenumah leadership of the association, describing the move as “most uncharitable and uncultured as it does not portend a positive outlook nor a solution on the way forward”.
The association in a statement signed by its President, Ajagbe Oritsegbegbemi and Secretary, Eyitemi Ben Eburajolo, declared that Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan is a bonafide and honorary member of the association, stressing that the Alero Tenumah leadership of the association that purportedly expelled Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan “should have constructively criticized the Governor and or proffered solutions on the premise of objectivity and scholarship instead of what they have done”.
The statement further advised that Itsekiris should differentiate genuine and devoted agitation and efforts to strengthen the Itsekiri course from “people masquerading under the EPZ saga to fan the embers of disunity and selfish political interest”.
While noting that Itsekiri graduates are in support of various groups like the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, Chief Ayirimi Emami and the Itsekiri representatives at the Abuja EPZ parley in their pursuit for justice, NAIG enjoined President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo to acknowledge the “hard truth, which is that Ugborodo Ogidigben community has no contiguity whatsoever with his Gbaramatu home town, which is even an Itsekiri town”.
The Itsekiri graduate body also called on President Jonathan to immediately set up an inquiry to investigate the kidnap of 14 Journalists and six community guards by Tompolo militants, describing their action as “an act reflective of crass lack of depth, wisdom, civility and disregard for the rule of law and constituted authority”.
