Refusal to adhere to written request from Igbo Elders in 2019, will haunt your 2023 Presidential ambition – Ohanaeze slams Atiku
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying the ex- VP’s alleged: “Refusal to adhere to a written request from Igbo Elders for a Mandela option of a single tenure in 2019, will continue to haunt his 2023 Presidential ambition”.

The apex Igbo group’s comment, which was contained in an electronic statement sent to Fresh Angle International in the early hours of today, Thursday January 27, claimed that rather than accepting the request from Igbo Elders for a single tenure, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, replied: “With his then six years economic blueprint for Nigeria (2020-2026) which was a clear understanding of having the ambition of a two-term as President if elected”.

The statement, E-signed by the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, added: “This evidence is now contradictory to the recent request from Atiku's ally for South-East's support, as no force can thwart the 2023 Igbo Presidency Project with Vice Presidential offer to the South-East, which is not feasible, as there will be a power shift from the North to the East in 2023".

“Attempts to trick and entice the South-East with attractive offers from the ally of Former Vice President and 2019 PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Raymond Dokpesi, to get South-East's support for his principal (Atiku) in 2023 are hoaxes and collective disrespect on the sensibility of the people of South-East, no amount of enticing promises, will make South-East to swap their right to 2023 Presidency to anyone. We continue to wonder if there should be a compulsory psychiatrist check on Nigerian politicians, there are false sentiments in some quarters that the owners of Nigeria can snatch 2023 Presidency from South-East, based on false perceptions that South-East friction towards presenting a consensus candidate for President in 2023, but since 1999 no region has produced a consensus candidate in any Presidential election .

“We are aware of the fact that Atiku Abubakar, has been struggling to win back the support of Arewa and Northern Elders Forum, especially Northern youths led by Arewa Youths and Coalition of Northern Groups”, the statement added inter-alia.
