Scores of Itsekiri Youths earlier today, Monday January 31, protested to Delta State Government House in Asaba, describing the recent reconstitution of Delta State Traditional Rulers’ Council, without recognition of the Olu of Warri in some local government areas in Delta Central Senatorial District as injustice, calling on the state government to stop the perceived injustice.

Fresh Angle International understands that the angry Itsekiri youths, hinged their demands on the argument that if Urhobo Monarchs are recognized in Warri South Local Government Area by the Delta State Government, then the Olu of Warri, should be duly recognized as member of the traditional councils in Uvwie, Ethiope West, Sapele and Okpe Local Government Areas, since Itsekiri has aboriginal communities in the aforesaid local government areas.
The protesters, who were said to have been addressed by the Chief of Staff, Government House Asaba, carried placards with inscriptions such as; “We are one and Olu of Warri is our King anywhere we are”, “Olu of Warri should be recognized in Uvwie LGA”, “Olu of Warri is our King in Ethiope West”, We are Itsekiris in Sapele and Olu of Warri should be recognized in Sapele LGA”, “Stop this injustice” and “We cannot be subdued”.
