Uroye appreciates Okowa, Ibori, Uduaghan, Lawmakers, For Honouring late Jemide


The Member Representing Warri South Constituency I in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Uroye has appreciated Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the respect he accorded the late Oshodi of Warri Kingdom, Chief Isaac Jemide, even at demise.

Hon. Uroye, who expressed the appreciation during yesterday’s plenary of Delta State House of Assembly, voiced same gratitude to the Speaker and members of the State Legislature, former Governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, for their participation in the final burial rites of the late octogenarian.

The Lawmaker, said it was gratifying to have the three governors, legislators and members of the State Executive Council join Itsekiris to bid farewell to one of the Nation’s best, who went to be with his ancestors on Sunday December 12, 2021.

“My Speaker, you will recall that sometime ago, I informed this House about the demise of Chief Isaac Jemide, the Oshodi of Warri kingdom. Mr. Speaker, he was buried when the House was on short break.

“I want to on behalf of Itsekiri nation, thank Mr. Speaker and members, for being part of those that came to bid the renowned Chief farewell. I want to specially thank His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa to have personally attended the burial rites ceremony. We also appreciate the presence of two former governors, Chief James Ibori and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. The presence of the present and past governors, is so much appreciated and I want to use this opportunity to thank them for the honour done the Itsekiri Nation”, Uroye stated.

Late Chief Isaac Jemide, was a member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly, between 1979 and 1983 and later Commissioner Representing Delta State in the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, OMPADEC.

He died at the age of 88, the death many described as great loss not only to Itsekiri Nation, but the state at large.

Late Jemide was a Lawyer and served the Itsekiri nation and Delta State in several capacities.
