Prominent HOSTCOM leaders in Delta State, have absolved the Chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon. Michael Diden (a.k.a Ejele) over the non-payment of monies owed aggrieved DESOPADEC Contractors for jobs executed with verified payments’ certificate, urging Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to immediately order payment of the contractors, with a view to mitigate their sufferings and reduce their indebtedness to banks.

In a statement made available to Fresh Angle International, today, Thursday March 31, the HOSTCOM leaders, viewed with dismay, the report published yesterday on This Tabloid, wherein DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors and Stakeholders Forum, DICSF, alleged that Hon. Michael Diden deceived them after his promise to set up a tripartite meeting between the aggrieved contractors, the Managing Director of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh and himself, to possibly fashion-out a way forward as regards the demands of the contractors.

The statement which was e-signed by Hon. Benjamin Iwetan, Engr. Tuoyo Woligho, Benson Erewa Meggison, Comrade Itse Omajugho and Ajemijereoma Mene Ejegi, noted that HOSTCOM agitated for some of the jobs in question to be sited in the host communities many years ago, “when Hon. Michael Diden was not Chairman of DESOPADEC and he has done his best to offset parts of the debt, he inherited by his leadership. As attested to by the protesting contractors, Hon. Diden’s promise to convene a tripartite meeting late last year between himself, the MD of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh and representatives of the aggrieved contractors of the Commission, was one of several efforts by Hon. Diden to ensure that the contractors are paid for jobs executed with verified payments’ certificate”.
