Uwakeno Leadership Controversy: Intrigues as Egire Family exposes letter addressed to Akiuyatsemi, claiming Orugboh is no longer their representative

Fresh intrigues have emerged in the leadership controversy in Uwakeno Community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, as Egire Family of Uwakeno, exposes a letter they addressed to Mr. David Olumami Akiuyatsemi, saying Fidelis Ete Orugboh, “has ceased to act as the family (Egiri) representative”.

In the letter dated March 25, 2022, copying the Olu of Warri, His Imperial Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Egire Family of Uwakeno Community, stressed: “MR. FIDELIS ETE ORUGBOH is no longer the representative of Egire Family of Uwakeno Community. He has ceased to act as the family representative”.

The letter signed by “the Head of Egire Family & Secretary to the Elders Council”, Pa. Stephen Metsese Ajueyitsi, added: “Henceforth, all entitlements or benefits of the Egire Family of Uwakeno Community, should not pass through him (Fidelis Orugboh). The new representative of Egire Family will be made known to the public in due time.

"Fidelis Ete Orugboh, who has been representative of the Egire Family of Uwakeno Community, has been in position for over 16 years as Secretary of the Community and he has been a Secretary of the OML 150 Conoil Consultative Forum for 8 years. He has refused to drop position for other members of the family, to represent us. After much deliberation and resolution, the family wish to notify the general public and any company operating in Uwakeno Community that FIDELIS ETE ORUGBOH, is no longer representing the Egire Family of Uwakeno Community. He is our son and also an indigene of Uwakeno Community, but no longer representing the family”.

Recall that the Council of Elders and Board of Trustees of Uwakeno Community, one of the host Communities of the OML-150 Field in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, had on Monday February 21, 2022 in a press statement, debunked claims by Pa. David Akiuyatsemi that Fidelis Ete Orugboh, is not the Trust Chairman of Uwakeno Community, insisting that: “Mr. Fidelis Ete Orugboh led Trust Executive, were duly inaugurated and the tenure took effect from October, 23rd,  2020 for a four (4) year-term and this is in accordance with the Uwakeno Community Constitution 2017”.

Interestingly, the press statement backing Fidelis Ete Orugboh by the Council of Elders and Board of Trustees of Uwakeno Community, was signed by Ugbatin Olare-Aja (Ag Olare-Aja) Pa. Dele Urowayino, Patron/Most Senior Man; Pa. Rogers Okorodudu and three members of the Council of Elders of Uwakeno; Pa. Mayomi Boyitie, Pa. Stephen Ajueyitsi and Mr. Benjamin Urowayino.
