Delta 2015: Ogboru settles for Isoko Deputy
Chief Great Ogboru

As the clamour by various Isoko groups and individuals to produce Senator Ifeanyi Okowa's Deputy on the PDP platform thickens despite the odds favouring Ijaws, Delta State Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Chief Great Ogboru has settled for an Isoko person to be his running mate, Fresh Angle International has learnt.

The fresh resolve by Ogboru to settle for a deputy of Isoko extraction after initially scouting for an Itsekiri man is due to the recent outcry of marginalization by Isokos of Delta State whose highest executive position they have occupied since the creation of Delta State is Secretary to the State Government, presently being occupied by one of their sons.

Fresh Angle International can also report that after settling for Isoko deputy, despite the Isokos having just two local government areas from the 25 local government areas that make up Delta State, Chief Ogboru's Labour Party has also chosen an Itsekiri legal practitioner as its Delta South Senatorial candidate to battle Senator James Manager who despite not being so popular amongst his Ijaw kinsmen, Isoko and Itsekiri has the backing of President Goodluck Jonathan for a fourth term.

The permutation by the Labour Party is to garner support of Itsekiris who dominate the three Warri Local Governments with so many votes with a view to winning Okowa in Delta South following the support he appears to be enjoying from Tompolo, James Manager and some Ijaw leaders.

It remains to be seen how Ogboru's calculation will give him the edge over Okowa in the three Warri Local Governments, because prominent Itsekiri political leaders like Hon. Michael Diden, Hon. David Tonwe and Hon. Daniel Reyenieju though surprised by Okowa's seeming resolve to pick Ijaw deputy are poised to work for him.
