The Olu of Warri , Ogiame Atuwase II has charged the Delta South Labour Party Senatorial Candidate, Wilkie, a legal practioner, to work hard to succeed in the National Assembly election slated for February 2015.
The Warri Monarch gave the advice today when the Senatorial hopeful, Oniyetsoritse Elijah led some of his supporters, cutting across the eight local government areas that make up Delta South Senatorial District on a consultation visit to his palace in Warri.
While noting that he is not a politician, but a traditional ruler obliged to giving his blessings to all his subjects, the Olu noted that it will be well for Wilkie, just as he stated that the LP Senatorial candidate is in the right track.
Responding, Oniyetsoritse Wilkie told the Olu of Warri that he came to formally notify him of his candidacy under the umbrella of Labour Party and promised to do his best in “the liberation of the Itsekiri and betterment of the country at large” insisting that he will always heed the advice of the Olu of Warri.
The legal practitioner while disclosing that he once contested for Warri South-West Chairmanship seat in 2004 under the UNPP platform, stated that “people of Delta South Senatorial District need someone with the right attributes to provide purposeful representation, which I posses”.
According to Wilkie, Delta South Senatorial District lacks Federal Government presence, stressing that with his experience in legal practice as well as exposure, he will bring development to the district.
He promised that he will be accessible to Itsekiris, Ijaws and Isokos if given the mandate to represent Delta South.
