The President/Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Smart Development Foundation, MSDF,Dr. Evelyn Omawumi Urhobo says her foundation will do its best to continually empower women to enable them impact positively on the society.
Dr. Evelyn Urhobo made the promise during a 4 day Women Community leaders training workshop held in Warri recently.
She defined leadership as ability to know the people, their needs, making the right decision and having the right contact.
The Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Betty Efekodha in an address declared that within the last 50years, women have contributed significantly to the growth of the economy and the country at large.
The Commissioner who was represented by a director in the ministry, Mrs. Onyekweli Fina, stated that the state government has been doing a lot to empower women via micro-credit, free health care for pregnant women, skill acquisition as well as adult education.
The Senior Programme Officer, Communications and Advocacy, MSDF, Michael Chidozie explained that advocacy in an organization means to create room for feedback and draw up clear objectives.
According to him, two major steps in advocacy process are making contacts and talking with someone else before a meeting.
At the end of the 4 day programme participants did presentations for their individual organizations.
