Three armed robbers at about 11:00 am today made way with mobile phones and about two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000) withdrawn from Zenith Bank, along Ogunu road in Warri by a customer who was heading to NPA Expressway, opposite Fresh Angle International office to purchase granite.

The owner of the N250, 000 who declined to disclose his identity, while narrating his ordeal to Our Correspondents, accused Zenith Bank, Ogunu road near former SPDC gate of complexity. According to him, when he went to the bank to withdraw his money, nobody knew about it, stressing that it was his personal cheque he used to withdraw the money and the staff working at his project site were not aware he went to the bank.

He explained that after he left the bank with his friend in the car, he did not take note of any car tailing him until he arrived the granite spot along the NPA Expressway, by the old Tipper Garage.  He further told Our Correspondents that it was when he brought out the cash and gave it to the boy selling the granite that he noticed a Green Colour Volkswagen Gulf Car behind his Toyota Corolla. According to him, on sensing danger he immediately put his car on reverse, but his escape measure was too late before the three armed men double-crossed him. One of the armed robbers at the back seat of the Gulf Car came out with a locally made gun, shot the granite sales boy on his leg in the boy’s attempt to evade the gunmen, but surprisingly the bullet did not penetrate.

The granite sales boy told Our Correspondents, “I have finished negotiating with the buyer and he has given me the cash when the Gulf Car just double-crossed the buyer’s car and parked beside it. On seeing the robbers, I wanted to run when one of the robbers jumped from the Gulf Car and shot me on my leg, though the bullet did not penetrate, he ordered me to give him the cash, which I did”.
